Week 3 is in the books. In regards to the weight loss – not a great week. Life though was a bit better. My father was released from the hospital on Monday with some lingering pneumonia symptoms. I had taken Tuesday off for my own recovery and to watch him. When he developed new symptoms, my stress once again peaked. Thursday we got some good news and pretty much everything after that was a blur. I was elated. Finally felt like myself. Think I may have actually witnessed the stress leave my body.
Despite the hospital trip my husband and I managed to try to stay on top of our workouts. Our diet wasn’t exactly hateful either. All in all, I believe in about a week (or less) once my body is finished recovering from this week, I think I’ll experience a pretty drastic weight loss. Ultimately, my focus on the weight being lost is dwindling. I have felt significant improvements in my attitude and mental health surrounding my workouts and I know from experience that sometimes when I tie too much focus on the scale – my attitude tends to shift the other way. I am currently enjoying my hour-long walks with my husband the most. Regardless, I am enthusiastic about my run training and look forward to any weight loss that may come along with it.
What went right: Tracked all meals (albeit some may not be so accurate), and completed all four training runs despite a hospital trip with my father.
What didn’t: The scale.
Useful tools: Long walks with my husband.
Final Score: 9/10.
If I drank just a little less this would be 10/10. Between the stress, the hospital, and everything else – I can’t even believe how well I did. Scale be damned.
